Hurricane, WV — A benefit sing will be held for Carla Allison on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 6:00 PM at Mount Vernon Baptist Church.
This event features a powerful line-up of talented local vocalists, including event host Tony Breeden, Elisha Conn, Elizabeth Yeager Cross, Eric Ginn, David Hays, Eric Strobel, and Carla Allison herself. A love offering will be taken up at the event. All proceeds will go to Carla Allison to help her with medical and travel expenses.
Carla Allison, a homeschool mom from Putnam County, has severe scoliosis and flatback syndrome. Carla currently has hardware failure (broken rods on both sides) in her back and is in desperate need of another major surgery. There are no doctors in WV who can perform the surgery she needs. There is a surgeon in NY who can do this complicated surgery, but the doctor is out of network and she has to pay upfront before the surgeon will see her.
Having undergone five major surgeries and several minor ones for her condition, Carla lives with chronic pain, yet remains very active in local ministry. Carla is a worker. Whenever people need help, whether it’s watching someone’s kids, playing piano in church or even something like painting a room, she’s always the first person to jump in and help. This is a great opportunity to give something back to someone who truly deserves our help and prayers.
This event will kick off this year’s ‘Saturday Night Live for Jesus’ worship services at Mount Vernon. Ron McClung, Lead Pastor, notes that “‘Love One Another’ is a powerful principle in the Word and a mandate; but how about not just talking about it, but doing it, living it, giving it? That’s our motive behind this upcoming Benefit Concert for Carla Allison on January 26th and we are honored and excited to support the effort. Many of us love to praise and worship and this gives us a chance to sing to our God and offer support for a sister and her family. Join us, worship with us, and love one another in real action and compassion. See you Saturday.”
If you are unable to attend but want to make a donation, contact Tony Breeden at firstname.lastname@example.org or call/text 304-993-4792.
