We’re pleased to announce a few statistical milestones as we close out the 2009 year!
DefendingGenesis.org has had over 53,000 visitors since the site was launched back in 2007. Since then, we’ve generated tons of pages and posts. To make our resources and articles easier to navigate, we’ve added a Home page to the website. Be sure to check it out!
Christmas & Creation Sunday
We’re also pleased to announce that our Creation Sunday 2010 Cause on Facebook has reached 77 members! I just wanted to take a moment to thank everybody for spreading the word about this upcoming event through Facebook and the ning site at creationsunday.ning.com.
Christmas is almost upon us. Churches across USAmerica and the world will dedicate at least one service to the Incarnation. We’ll celebrate God robed in flesh born of a Virgin in fulfillment of His perfectly Revealed Word. We have many fine Christian traditions in our houses of worship centered around the birth of our Lord. We have literally reams of Christmas hymns. We meditate on the very first Christmas Gift, God Himself from God Himself. Our clergy will remind us of the Christmas message and how it fits into the Gospel. Most of us will even check out a Nativity or a Christmas play. We’ll read the Christmas passages from the Bible. Some of us will use an Advent calendar. The point is, that amongst the materialism of Christmas, Christians will find ways to re-inforce its true meaning in our hearts and in the hearts of our children.
Creation Sunday essentially begs for the same sort of treatment. True, we won’t have traditions to fall back on and bring us back to remembrance, but we can invent new traditions. All of the tools are there in front of us:
We have songs and hymns that praise the Creator. There are Creation websites, Sunday school sites and VBS programs with scores of ideas for bringing the doctrine of Creation to our children. Even besides Genesis, there are many verses that deal with Creation. I digress. We have a few ideas how you can celebrate a Creation Sunday at DefendingGenesis.org and CreationSunday.ning.com. Facebook users can join the Creation Sunday 2010 Cause at http://apps.facebook.com/causes/325873 .
The point is, all we have to do is dedicate February 14, 2010 to the Biblical doctrine of Creation just as we dedicate Christmas to the Incarnation of Christ the Creator.
I’m also pleased to remind you that West Virginia’s 1st ever Creation Science Fair is scheduled for February 27, 2010 at the Activities Building of Rock Branch Independent Church [rbic.org]. This groundbreaking event is being promoted by the Kanawha Creation Science Group [kcsg.us] and Defending Genesis for tyhe express purpose of showing that Creationists practice everyday science via the Scientific Method and to encourage Christian youth to pursue careers in the sciences from a Biblical Creationist worldview. The event is open to all elligible students Grades 1-12. Our chief judge and keynote speaker for this event is Dr G Charles Jackson of Creation Truth Foundation.
Applications and further details are available at the WV Creation Science Fair’s official website, wvscience.wordpress.com . Be sure to be a part of this exciting educational opportunity! The registration deadline is February 1, 2010.
