West Virginia’s 1st Creation Science Fair scheduled for February 27, 2010


The 1st ever WV Creation Science Fair is being organized by the Kanawha Creation Science Group and DefendingGenesis.org for the purpose of demonstrating that Creationists practice the the same operational science using the scientific method as anyone else and to encourage students to pursue careers in the sciences from a Biblical Creationist  perspective.

This groundbreaking event is scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Rock Branch Independent Church Activities Building. Our keynote speaker for this event will be Dr G Charles Jackson of the Creation Truth Foundation

Dr. Jackson has his bachelor’s degree in Biology, a master’s in Science Education, and a master’s in Environmental Biology from George Mason University. He earned his doctorate in Science Education at University of Virginia. He has taught science or education courses at both public and private schools to students in kindergarten through university level. His positions since 1980 have included five high schools, six community colleges, four colleges, and two universities in Virginia, Maryland, Vermont, and Tennessee. Dr. Jackson is a charter member of the East Tennessee Creation Science Association and a lifetime member of the Creation Research Society. He is also a member of American Mensa and an approved speaker by the Institute for Creation Research. He has been speaking to churches and school groups on this topic since 1975. In addition to being our inaugural keynote speaker, Dr Jacksom will serve as a science fair judge.

The event will be open to homeschool, Christian school and interested public school students from grades 1 to 12. Registration has begun. Interested participants must print and mail their Science Fair Application [available along with the Science Fair Rules & Guidelines at the official WV Creation Science Fair website, http://wvscience.wordpress.com] to Rev Tony Breeden, RE: WV Creation Science Fair, 115 Knotts Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064, postmarked no later than February 1, 2010 to confirm their intent to participate. Each application must be accompanied by a $5.00 application fee payable to the Rev. Tony Breeden to help cover the cost of ribbons & incidental expenses.  Application [including fee] must be postdated by February 1, 2010 for valid entry.
